For as long as I can remember, I was always under the impression that lingerie had everything to do with my partner. Whew 😅 was I wrong.
Unfortunately, I had to learn this the hard way.
If you've been here since inception, then you know my story
so I won't beat a dead horse. Boyfriend.... lingerie.... he not like it... I stopped wearing it... You get the point. 🙄
Long story short, I had to learn that my wearing lingerie and sexy pajamas had nothing to do with anyone else but me. Especially when every time I did wear it for others, I ended up feeling worse about it.
So I simply decided to stop wearing it for my partner and made the conscious decision to only wear it for myself.
Here's 5 reasons why you should start (assuming you don't already) wearing lingerie for yourself:
1. Reignite Love For Your Body Type
As we age like wine, we may start to come into our grown woman body. For many of us, with the new found stretch marks, dimples, and curves, we may find our confidence slipping as the days come and go. Regardless of your body type, lingerie is typically form-fitting to your shape. It'll accentuate every inch of our frame making it hard not to notice every all that our body is. Lingerie makes you feel great and look just as great if not greater forcing you to enjoy your body type.
Reminder: It's Okay If Your Body Changes.
Way too often, many of us look to our partners to confirm what we should already know and believe within ourselves. Point Blank Period, You VALIDATE Yourself.
Reminder: As long as you love it, it doesn't matter who likes it.
3. Enhances Confidence
Let's keep it real! We live in a world where as women, we are constantly being told what's beautiful, acceptable, and what's not. This can naturally tug at our confidence, lowering our self-esteem. It's time we reclaim beauty standards for ourselves and feel better about who we are and how we look, REGARDLESS OF HOW WE LOOK. Wearing something that makes you look sexy, it's inevitable that you also end up feeling sexy.
Reminder: You are Enough!
4. Explore and Express Your Sensuality
It's time we explore what it means to be sensual without anyone else involved. As women, we should feel motivated to get sexy for ourselves, not just for our partner. Wearing lingerie naturally boosts endorphins and makes you feel tapped in sensually more often than not wearing it. So if you're single and ever in need of a little assistance, put on something sexy and explore pleasure with yourself. Self-awareness is important in and out of a relationship. If you ever expect to be a sensual partner, we must first indulge in what it means to be a sensual being without outside influences.
Reminder: You are a sensual goddess. SAY IT WITH ME: I AM A SENSUAL GODDESS.
5. Reaffirm your femininity
We live in a society where we are constantly subject to patriarchal influence. What is feminine and what is not? What is sexual and what is not? What is over-sexualization vs what is sensual? Blah, blah, bullshit. It's time we cut out all the rah rah and understand that as women, only we have the power to define what femininity is for ourselves, and ourselves alone. It is in reclaiming our own terms for what is and is not feminine that we take back our sexy and ultimately take back our power.
Reminder: My sensuality belongs to me first.
